Vacations Are Important

images (2)We live a stressful daily life. Unbalanced diet, pollution, worry, grief or sadness, responsibilities, job and work related stress and tensions etc. will finally lead us all to burnout. How can we improve the quality of our life? Combating burnout is a very vast issue dealing with various ways to reduce stress, but one of the things that helps is taking time off.

Many people don’t take vacations often enough and some do not take them at all. Taking a holiday is good for us for many reasons.

Increases Productivity
The sense of satisfaction, happiness and balance we feel, after returning from our holiday is in direct proportion to our productivity. The feel good factor will keep away burnout and help us give our best, at home and work.

Better Health
People who take vacations regularly are more relaxed and healthy than the ones who don't. images (1) It recharges, rejuvenates and reduces stress. It improves sleep, our food intake and our mood. We don’t realize the pressure on children these days. Daily routine takes it toll on them too. Kids have stress too.

Stronger Bonds
Vacations help us bond with our loved ones. Making marriages stronger and strengthening bonds between siblings. We tend to relax and it truly brings to fore our real personalities, which sometimes is a discovery.

Be Selfish
We are constantly living each moment of our lives for others. For the ones we love. Along the way, we forget to love ourselves. Life is too short. Spend some of it doing the things you love to do, the things that make you feel wonderful. A well deserved holiday, is a gift you give yourself. It helps you connect with yourself. Wouldn't that be wonderful? Connecting with yourself?

Get Motivated

The routine of our daily lives drains us. The monotony of repetition leads to fatigue. We need to get motivated to perform better in all facets of our life. To give better than our best. Getting a good break will auto push us in the correct direction.

The Action Plan

1. Get out of the routine of daily life and take a break. We all deserve one.

2. We don’t realize how the productivity levels dip due to stress and chaos in our daily lives. Revive this.

3. Remember the 4 R’s. Relax. Rejuvenate. Recharge. Revitalize.

4. The quantity of the break doesn’t matter. What matters is that you take one. It isn’t about taking 2 days off or taking 20 days off. Just take the holiday.

5. Kids need a change too. More than we realize, from the pressure at school and at home. They need to unwind too.

6. Do this for yourself. We take care of everyone’s need except our own. That’s important too.

7. When was the last time you really played with the children without thinking of the office or some work? Re create the magic we always have with our children.

8. De-stressing makes us healthy.

images (6)While many people may not be in a position to take long drawn holidays or frequent ones, there are many sites that cater to all kinds of requirements. It isn’t essential to take a long holiday, even a weekend off will suffice.

Go enjoy. Go take pictures and make memories. Relax, rejuvenate, recharge and focus towards revitalizing yourself and returning home. Remember to live, not just be alive.
